Salary Range: $23.98 – $28.30 / Hour
Job Description:
The NDT Level II reports directly to the National City Quality Assurance (QA) Manager and West Coast Level III NDT Examiner and conducts NDT Visual (VT) weld inspections aboard US Navy ships ensuring compliance with NAVSEA Drawings, MIL-STD-1689A, MIL-STD-2035, MIL-STD-22D, 0900-LP-001-7000, S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248, S9074-AR-GIB-010/278, and NAVSEA Standard Items. The NDT Level II Inspector schedules, accepts, and rejects NDT inspections and other QA checkpoints with trades, sub-contractors, and customers. The NDT Level II performs in-process weld surveillances and weld workmanship inspections aboard U.S. Navy ships berthed in San Diego and on items fabricated in the QED National City shop.
Job Requirements / Skill Sets:
- The candidate must have a current or recent qualification as a NAVSEA or ASNT NDT(VT) Level II Inspector.
- The candidate must provide written evidence of work experience, OJT, classroom hours, and education which led to the Level II qualification.
- Additional qualifications in other NDT methods, such as Dye Penetrant Testing (PT) are a plus.
- Familiarity with ABS or AWS requirements would be a plus.
- Experience with all NAVSEA Standard Items would be a plus.
- Qualification as an AMPP paint inspector would be a plus.
- The candidate must be able to understand complex work specification requirements and to read and interpret NAVSEA drawings and technical documents.
- Able to climb vertical & inclined ladders to access work areas aboard US Navy ships
- Able to work in confined spaces
- Able to work aboard ship under harsh conditions (heat & humidity) and comply with OSHA safety regulations.
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Security Clearance/Naval Facility Access: U.S. citizenship required. Must be eligible for and be able to maintain a U.S. Secret Clearance. Be able to access military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards. Must possess a Government-issued photo ID, such as a REAL ID, passport, or passport card.
