Job Description:
QED Systems is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Fabricator – Welder, which can perform a variety of metal joining processes and basic sheet metal tasks in support of fabricating high quality products.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Experienced aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel welding practices.
- Experienced in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding practices.
- Must be able to certify in NAVSEA standard welding procedures.
- Cuts, bends, and shapes sheet metal to required dimensions.
- Measures, fits, and welds pieces together according to specifications, blueprints, or directions.
- Uses appropriate machinery and software applications to complete assigned jobs.
- Coordinates required shutdowns and startups of equipment with other departments after sheet metal installation.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Candidates must successfully demonstrate the skills and ability to certify to QED Weld Procedures for Stainless Steel, Aluminum, and Carbon Steel (Mandatory) base metals. The individual must also be able to read, interpret, and follow blue prints or technical drawings and understand associated welding symbols. Must be able to pass an x-ray weld test.
- Ability to complete sheet metal projects with accuracy and precision.
- Ability to safely use machinery and tools involved in sheet metal work.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics to understand product assignment.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
U.S. citizenship required. Must meet and maintain eligibility for U.S. Secret Clearance and be able to access military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards.
