Job Description:
QED Systems, an experienced marine engineering, planning, and ship modernization firm, is seeking a Transportation Specialist. The Candidate must have familiarity with Defense Transportation Regulations and specific knowledge of Transportation Enhancement Access Management Services, formerly known as Electronic Transportation Acquisition. The Transportation Specialist must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Material shipping and transportation responsibility will include all types of material in support of Military Sealift Command (MSC) ships operating within the Combat Logistics Force, Special Mission Ships, Pre-Positioning Ships, Sealift Program Support, Fleet Ordnance/Dry Cargo, Afloat Staging Command Support, Expeditionary Fast Transport and Adaptive Force Package Support.
Position Requirements:
The Transportation Specialist will be assigned to a specific MSC warehouse; either located in Norfolk, VA or San Diego, CA and will report to the QED Systems Transportation Manager. The Transportation Specialist will be responsible to kit, pack, block and brace material and equipment for shipment and transportation and will be responsible for updating Material Tracking databases. The Material Transportation Specialist will coordinate local material and equipment transportation and shipment, including pickup and delivery to and from ships, vendors, air terminals, airports, shipyards, and package carriers.

H.S. Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
The Transportation Specialist must possess the following specific experience:
2-years of experience:
- Processing small package and oversized shipment within the Department of Defense (DOD) Transportation System
- Utilizing the DOD’s automated Global Freight Management tool to book shipments
- Using the Financial and Air Clearance Transportation System to book transportation utilizing Air Mobility Command assets
